My Approach

Awareness and Acceptance

“The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.”

- Frank Herbert

My approach begins with the fundamental assumption that nothing is inherently wrong, and therefore there is nothing that needs fixing. Instead, I hope to first meet you where I can fully empathise with the difficulty of your circumstances, your struggle with certain behaviours or the pain from unresolved conflicts. However, my focus is not on finding solutions to these issues. Rather, I use them as a starting point to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your subconscious beliefs, and your perception of life.

“He who has a ‘why’ to live can bear almost any ‘how’."

- Friedrich Nietzsche

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and instead of searching for solutions, the key to liberation lies in finding ‘meaning’ in your suffering. By becoming more aware of your underlying patterns and mechanisms, you gain a new perspective and have the ability to make different choices, often resulting in a shift in your experiences and outcomes. As a coach, my role is to guide you through this transformation by helping you to ‘be’ in the present moment with awareness rather than ‘do’ in order to obtain a desired future.

Integration and Choice

“WORDS DO NOT MAKE A MAN UNDERSTAND. IT TAKES THE MAN TO UNDERSTAND THE WORDS.”

- Alan Watts

People often embark on deep journeys of self-exploration and gain profound insights and realisations. However, they struggle to fully benefit from their discoveries because they face challenges reconciling their newfound self-knowledge with the outside world. Often, they lack the necessary skills and vocabulary to bridge the gap between their inner and outer worlds, causing them to feel isolated and exposed. It is crucial then to begin our process by unpacking these insights and adapting your internal landscape to align with them. Only then can you effectively leverage this fresh insight to create a new perspective.

“I’m not what happened to me, I’m what I choose to become.”

- Carl Jung

As you start to understand how your family, circumstances, and society have impacted your life, it may seem like your life, your innate abilities and perhaps even your destiny is predetermined. You may question whether you have any free will or wonder whether your actions are dictated by forces beyond your control. However, your ability to choose and exert agency in the world means that you are responsible for your choices and actions, and it is important to embrace your power to shape your life and the world around you. As a coach, I help you identify the choices available to you and empower you to harness your ability to manifest a different reality through your thoughts, actions, and beliefs.

Direction and Manifestation

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”

- Pablo Picasso

Through inquiry and contemplation we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. But the question remains – where do we go from here? Are we aware of what gives our lives meaning and what moves us forward? In ancient Greek philosophy, it was believed that everything – whether it’s a natural object, a human being or a society – had a fundamental essence or ultimate purpose, known as its “telos” and pursuing our telos throughout our lives is ultimately what gives our lives purpose. As a coach, my goal is to help you identify your own telos and use it to calibrate your internal compass and steer you towards your true destination.

“Every criticism, judgement, diagnosis, and expression of anger is the tragic expression of an unmet need.”

Marshall B. Rosenberg

Despite having a clear vision and sincere intentions, it can be challenging to bring the changes you desire to fruition. Many individuals face obstacles, pain, and conflict because they struggle to establish meaningful connections with others and promote understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. I utilise non-violent communication techniques to assist people in exploring the exchange of information and emotions between their inner and outer worlds, as well as with others and the world around them. By constructively and authentically expressing oneself and listening deeply, individuals can cultivate nourishing and fulfilling relationships, ultimately enabling them to reconcile their newfound insights with the external world and manifest positive change.
